Our Board of Directors:
Melody Braun-Wilds – Executive Director & Camp Director - Melody is the founder and Director of Mito Camp. She is a flight attendant with Continental/United Airlines. Melody has served on the following Non Profit Boards: Houston Aggie Moms, Ms. Wheelchair Texas, The Houston UMDF Board, CAMP FOR ALL Friends Board including past Friends Board President. She is active with the St Thomas High School Tom’s Moms Alumni Association. Melody has been honored in the past twice for her volunteer efforts by the National Philanthropy Association and Continental Airlines. In 2011 Continental Inflight awarded her the Humanitarian Award. She was a finalist for L’Oreal Paris’ Women of Worth 2007 - 2008 contest. She has lead the Adult Mitochondrial Support Group in Houston for 7 years,
Charles Wilds – Director, Company Secretary & Co-Camp Director - Charles has over 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry For more the 12 years Charles worked with CAMP FOR ALL, a special needs camp located in Burton Texas. He was a member of their Executive Board for the last 6 years. Charles has participated in various activities at Camp For All including being a counselor for the Tourette’s Syndrome Camp for 10 years. Charles and his wife Melody co-founded the Mitochondrial Disease Grant at UT Memorial Herman which has raised more than one million dollars toward the Houston base research to find a cure for this terminal genetic disorder. Charles also served on the board for the UMDF, United Mitochondiral Disease Foundation Houston Chapter.
Fernando Scaglia M.D. – Mito Camp Doctor and Board Member, Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine-Genetics and is a Professor, Department of Molecular and Human Genetics. He has Board Certifications from the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Medical Genetics: Clinical Genetics. He is a member of the American Society of Human Genetics, Society of Inherited Metabolic Disorders, and Society for the Study of Inherited Metabolic Disorders.
Brett Graham M.D. – Mito Camp Doctor and Board Member, Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine-Genetics and is an Assistant Professor, Department of Molecular and Human Genetics. He has Board Certifications from the American Board of Pediatrics, American Board of Medical Genetics: Clinical Genetics and Medical Biochemical Genetics. He is a Member of the American Society of Human Genetics,
Society of Inherited Metabolic Disorders and the Society for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism.
Ruth Burrell – Executive Board Member - Ruth is Executive Director at Kids' Meals that delivered OVER 343,340 lunches with a staff of eight and with the help of over 9,000 volunteers! Kids' Meals delivers to 1,400 pre-school aged children, living in poverty who are in need of food. Kids Meals delivers nutritious meals directly to the homes of these hungry children, Monday through Friday, year-round. The lunches are free of cost to each family. We deliver lunches out of 2 locations in the Houston area. They are located inside two Neighborhood Centers (Independence Heights and East Houston, Ripley House).
Ana Calvo – Mito Camp Board Member and Counselor, Director of Transition Services for HCC VAST Academy, former Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2009 and was featured in the Movie " Defining Beauty" opening World Wide the night of Camp Fest 2013!
Heidi Dallman - Mito Camp Board Member and special event fund raising coordinator. She is the mom to Holli Dallman age 23 who has a mitochondrial disorder. Heidi has lived all over the world and has faced the many challenges of traveling and moving with a sick child who has multiple disabilities. She is involved with Special Olympics and currently serves as a coach. Until her daughter could no longer attend school full time she worked with children who had disabilities within the school system.
Rick Velez – Mito Camp Board Member and Counselor, United Airlines
John Walsh – Mito Camp Board Member and Counselor, United Airlines
Toni Harrison - Toni is President and CEO of Etched Communications and has a considerable network connections. Toni has participated in camp as a camp counselor for two out of the past three years. Toni has also participated in the Ms Wheelchair Texas board and has expressed her desire to help Mito Camp in any way possible.
Renee’ Svitek - Previous Camp Counselor for 3 camp session and community volunteer. Renee has show passion and enthusiasm in supporting Mito Camp. She volunteered at Camp for All’s Family Day in April 2013 and has show unyielding support for Mito Camp. She works for a major offshore contractor as procurement manager.
Bob Stepp - Previous Camp Counselor for 3 camp sessions, Flight Attendant and volunteers for Kids Meals. Bob has shown passion and enthusiasm in supporting Mito Camp.
